Happy Holidays to you. We hope our greetings find you well and happily preparing for this very special time of year. This is our first family Christmas letter…Are you ready?!? Here we go….
Colin has had an exciting year. He celebrated his 4th birthday this past July with a Fireman party complete with a real City of Spokane fireman. In September he began his educational career –starting out at The School for Little People. He is enjoying school immensely!! This year Colin’s favorite activities included, playing with his brothers, camping, hiking, swimming as well as more sedate activities such as doing puzzles and mazes, and of course reading books! Oh, and he really likes to talk, laugh, sing, giggle, make funny noises, etc. He has enjoyed spending time with “twin” friends and has made many new friends at school. Colin grew an amazing 4 inches this year. Yet, he remains our very lovable-snuggable little Colin Bear.
Lance remains the fearless leader of our family. Lance has had a busy year professionally. First and foremost, Lance earned his MBA this fall. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but he graduated, and we are very proud of him. Currently he is working as a the Practice Administrator for a large medical practice in Spokane. He is enjoying his new job and all of the challenges it is presenting to him. Simultaneously, he is doing some healthcare management consulting, currently at a downtown hospital. He continues to be a GREAT father! He took his boys on the first ever “BAD BOYZ weekend”, which was a weekend full of dirty boys hiking, camping and late night cheeseburgers in the hills of Missoula, MT. It’s sure to become an annual tradition! Lance has also been a great husband, and celebrated 5 years of marriage in ‘07! All in all, he has been doing a fantastic job, creating an excellent balance between family and work. We appreciate his dedication to both!!
Austin will shortly turn 9 (he probably already has by the time you get this). He is currently in the 3rd grade and is doing very well at school. His teacher has only the best things to say about him. Makes us very proud! In addition to being the best big brother possible, he loves bike riding, running, swimming, camping and hiking! Austin also went away to his first week of church camp this year! Austin also enjoys cooking, I believe breakfast is his specialty and he has perfected his “Colby Eye Openers”. Austin is a very imaginative boy and this year he has worked very hard at his reading - currently he is reading Encyclopedia Brown-Boy Detective.
Mary continues to stay home and on the go with the boys….and enjoys every single day. Maybe not every single moment, but on the whole….the days seem to fly by hanging out with her boys. This year she has refined her building skills with legos and blocks. She & the boys continue to be active in the MOMS club, and twins group, as well this spring, Mary organized a “boys play group” together with several other Moms of boys, and it has taken off & become quite the cool group to belong to. She also took the boys by herself on a couple of overnight camping trips, trips to the beach and lots of hikes this year. Mary really enjoys doing “art” and helping the boys with new and original art projects. Mary has also become more politically active, helping out with different groups and functions. She is doing her best to encourage her children to be young and proud Democrats! As always, she continues to keep our family on track and moving ahead.
Simon. Last but not least is our little “Simey”. He also turned 4 in July, and may be the smallest of the Colbys, however don’t underestimate him, he currently weighs in at a whopping 60 pounds!! Simon is the “funny kid” of our family. His quirky little ways always keep us laughing. This year, Simon also acquired the skill of non-stop talking…from the second his eyes pop open in the morning, until his last request for water at night. Like his brothers, Simon is an active little kid - yet he still enjoys reading books, his favorite is Find Anthony Ant. He also enjoys doing art projects, helping Colin with puzzles, playing games and dress-up - fireman, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Zorro. He is an ace at sword fighting … we might just have to find fencing lessons for him. Simon also began school this year and he loves his teacher & everything about school…well, except the kid who “talks too much about spider-man”.
Our family also took a few big trips this year. The first of which was a long snowy weekend in Colorado. The boys have never seen so much snow in their lives! Over the 4th of July, we headed down to Utah; we saw lots of old friends and endured 100+ degree weather! We took the boys to the zoo and toured them around Salt Lake City. Finally, over the Thanksgiving holiday, we met up with most of Mary’s family in Sedona, AZ for a fun-filled week. One of the highlights was our first trip to the Grand Canyon, a most stunning and beautiful natural wonder of the world! It was a really fun week, culminating in a fantastic Thanksgiving feast with our wonderful Molzen family!!!
